BEATS 2025, an acronym for Basic Emergency and Trauma Skills, was a highly anticipated two-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) event and workshop organized by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. The event took place on March 26th and 27th, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The program included a series of insightful talks by distinguished speakers from various departments of Akash Hospital, followed by practical, hands-on training sessions in the afternoon. The event saw an enthusiastic participation of 90 students, along with 2 faculty delegates, all of whom contributed to the success of the workshop.
Dr. Naresh Shetty, CEO of Akash Hospital, Dr. Sivananda K. N., Head of the Physiology Department, Dr. Vasudha, Head of the Anatomy Department, Dr. Vasanth, Head of the Emergency Medicine Department , Prof. Chaitra K. R, Principal of Akash Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Paramedical Sciences were present at the Inaugural ceremony of the CME.
The event was made possible with the support of the organizing committee members—Mr. Thottadharani, Ms. Revathi, Ms. Tanya and Mr. Pruthvi. The CME witnessed talks by Dr Vasanth, HOD dept of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Ashwini & Dr. Bandhavya from Dept of Anesthesia , Dr.Murthy Kumar from Dept of Medicine , Dr. Ranjith from Dept of Emergency Medicine , Dr. Vanya from Dept of Surgery and Dr. Krishna Shah from dept of Neurology. Ms. Veena Shavi, a certified sonographer, was our Guest Speaker who provided a detailed and insightful talk on the basics of Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation.
BEATS 2025 was a highly successful event that provided participants with valuable theoretical knowledge and practical skills in emergency and trauma management. The collaborative atmosphere, expert-led sessions, and hands-on training left attendees well-prepared to respond effectively in critical situations, ultimately enhancing their capacity to save lives in emergency medical contexts.

The Honourable Minister for Medical Education also hosted a distinguished gathering to felicitate Dr. M.K. Ramesh as he passed the baton to the incoming Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Bhagwan. The new Vice-Chancellor was welcomed with a grand reception, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our RGUHS journey.

The event was hosted by 4th year BSc Nursing students. The event started with the lines by Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam “When you wish upon a star, Makes no difference who you are, Anything your heart desires, Will come to you!!!!
The Program started with an Invocation song by 3BSc Nursing Ms , followed by Lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and welcome speech by the Ms Dona Joseph 4th Year BSc Nursing, followed by Speeches by the Dignitaries respectively.
All the graduates stood with their graduation dress with tassel on the left and Dr Joyce K P Principal Maruthi College of Nursing recited and lead the graduates in the graduate pledge then the tassel was changed to right. Then there was the distribution ceremony of Certificates to all the graduates.
The Vote of thanks was given by the Ms Mariya O Babu. End of Graduation day was declared with a Photo Session.

The workshop featured insights on antimicrobial resistance from Dr. Kavita Nimboor (HOD, Microbiology), Ms. Sathya (NCBS), and Dr. Shivranjini Moharir (TIGS/APSI) on the science and surveillance of AMR. Dr. Madhavan H.S (HOD, General Medicine) addressed clinical challenges of AMR, followed by Dr. Nimboor on antibiotic stewardship and policy.
The engaging session included interactive quizzes and selfie booths promoting antimicrobial stewardship.

This three-day workshop, held under the aegies of M S Ramaiah Medical College (Regional Centre), brought together 28 participants from diverse specialties, ranging from Surgical Oncology to Anatomy.
The BCME workshop is a critical requirement for teaching faculty seeking promotion and guideship in medical colleges. It focused on enhancing the teaching and assessment skills of medical educators, offering them tools and techniques to improve their engagement with students and optimize learning outcomes. The sessions were designed to offer practical insights into modern pedagogical approaches, aligning with the evolving needs of medical education in India.
The effectiveness of the workshop was highlighted by the retro-pre evaluation feedback provided by the participants. The average pre-workshop knowledge score was 2.3, which significantly improved to a post-workshop score of 4.5, underscoring the value of the sessions in expanding the participants' understanding of teaching methodologies and assessment strategies. The majority of participants expressed great satisfaction with the workshop, praising the content delivery and interactive nature of the sessions. Many expressed a desire for more such learning opportunities in the future.
The valedictory function, held on the final day, was graced by Mr. Amar Gowda, Vice Chairman of Akash Group of Institutions; Dr. Shivaprakash N C, Principal of Akash Institute of Medical Science and Research Center; and Dr. Naresh Shetty, CEO of Akash Hospital. Their presence added prestige to the event, reaffirming the institution's commitment to advancing medical education.

After introduction and ice breaking session faculties were guided about software and system components of nursing Anne simulator. Faculties also underwent a case scenario in treating a patient suffering from chest pain. Following which faculties underwent debriefing session.
On second day faculties from Obstetrics and Gynaecology department and Allied health science department underwent hands on experience pertaining to setting up the Prompt Flex Birthing station, simulating birthing, delivering the new born and Post partum haemorrhage module. Following which faculties underwent training of insertion of intrauterine device in birthing simulator. In the afternoon faculty from Paediatrics department underwent fundamentals of resuscitation using the mannequin Brown Neonatalie live and Quantitative CPR mannequin. The faculties underwent different app based scenarios on pulmonary resuscitation of newborn and hands on experience regarding “treating a baby with choking”.

Akash Centre of Advanced Simulation under Akash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center conducted an American Heart Association Certified Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support course for final-year postgraduate students from 8/05/2024 (Wednesday) to 10/05/2024 (Thursday).
A batch of twenty-eight postgraduates attended the session for three days.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Amar Gowda, Vice Chairman, of Akash Group of Institutions, Dr. Shivaprakash N C, Principal, Dr. Brijesh K, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Naresh Shetty, Chief executive Officer.
The workshop benefitted participants largely in upgrading their skills to handle cardiac emergencies. They appreciated the fact that the information was comprehensive, the sessions practically oriented, the methodical approach to concepts and the use of algorithms augmenting their learning.
The participants were very happy and wanted such a course to happen every year so that they could be updated on the latest developments.

The department of Anatomy with the support and encouragement of Management and the Principal, AIMS&RC organized a street play by Phase 1 MBBS students of batch 2023-24 on 06/05/2024 at 11.00 am. The first-year medical students enacted the street play to create awareness amongst the general public visiting Akash Hospital about the importance of the voluntary body donation program. Many queries about voluntary body donation such as age limit, unnatural deaths, and comorbidities were answered. The street play emphasized the importance of voluntary body donation for cadaveric dissection and research. The main objective of OPTO CON’24 was to provide for all optometry students about Artificial Intelligence in Eye Health Care and think of innovations that are based on the needs, motivation and the style of learning
The second session started with Optom Shree Raksha, Product Trainee, Carl Zeiss Pvt Ltd. on the topic of “Current Trends in Ophthalmic Lenses”.
The third session was by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Assistant Professor, AIMS & RC, on the topic of “Current Trends in Optometry”.
And Finally Mr. Yogeshwar, Forus Health Pvt Ltd gave Hand on session of 3 Nethra Abrro Hand Held AR & 3 Classic 6.4 Fundus Camera to All ophthalmologist , Post Graduates and Optometry Students.
Finally Model Competition Participation certificates and prizes were distributed.
And the session ended with vote of thanks by OPTO CON’24 Organizer Mr. Jayakumar A, Faculty of Optometry.

The competition, aimed at enhancing awareness about “Risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus” among first-year MBBS students through innovative storytelling, was organized by the Department of Biochemistry, Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education & Research.
